I’m moving!

I’m packing up and moving… to my own domain! I’m SO so excited, and can’t wait to welcome you to my new ‘home’. I’ll be working really hard this next week to get everything working (and looking) just right, and I’m considering having some kind of giveaway or discount to celebrate! Leave me a comment and let me know what you’d be interested in. 🙂

a new baby!

HUGE thanks to my wonderfully talented BIL, Eric, and super-sweet sister, Angela, I have a new baby! The postman delivered her yesterday – boy, is she a beauty! hehe

I think I’m still a little in shock over this unexpected gift from them… a Canon 60D camera. It really means SO much to me to have an upgraded camera – I really hope to take my photography to the next level. 😀 I took the new camera outside for the first time this evening and really had fun playing around with the 50mm lens. Here’s some fun shots of my little Kiwi in the vegetable garden.

bring it on!

I’ve been offering a free photo session to family and friends in order to build up a portfolio (and relationships). I have had a blast so far, and really appreciate all of those who have participated. 🙂 I currently have 5 clients lined up for a session in the next week or so (and one in a few months, after the baby comes!), and am willing to accept TWO more. I have worked really hard on my pricing and packages this past week, and am ready to make some sales!

I have read everything I can get my hands (or eyes) on about starting out a photography business, working from home, building a portfolio, learning my camera. I have lots more to learn, but… I am ready for the next phase – bring it on!

So I’ve had a few opportunities this week  to sit and think. I ended up writing down a list of 10 of my favorite things. Then after pondering my list, I thought, “hey, I should try to find all these things and shoot them!” So, that is my challenge. I am photographing one topic per week, every day if possible, in order to really get creative and find examples all around me of all those things that say “ME”. I will post my photo collage of everything I find at the end of each week. What a great way to really be grateful for all our blessings – even little everyday things like cute polka dots. 😉

Ready? Week 1: polka dots and stars
Final photo collage will be due on each Thursday – my week 1 will be due on Aug 4.

Feel free to join me! Just take a few quiet moments and jot down a list of some of your absolute favorite things. Number your paper from 1-10 (or more or less, it’s up to you!), brainstorm, and then get out there and take some photos! Please comment if you’re joining me in this challenge. I’d LOVE to see what you come up with!

here I am!

I know… it’s REALLY late and I should be headed up to bed… I just wanted to share what I fun evening I had with 2 of my kiddos. I really wanted to get a long exposure shot of a waterfall, and I knew of the perfect place – the Columbia Gorge! It was sunny and beautiful. The drive up and back was gorgeous as well – old hwy 30 is fun to drive! I got a few pretty shots of the Bridal Veil falls. I admit, I was disappointed that we needed to head back home and miss the beautiful sunset over the Columbia. I feel so blessed to live in Oregon with this breathtaking beauty all around!
